FAQ

Questions
What is airway-focused dentistry?

Airway-focused dentistry recognizes how breathing and airway function affect whole-body health. We evaluate and treat the dental and craniofacial issues — underdeveloped jaws, tongue-ties, and sleep-disordered breathing — that can compromise the airway, in children and adults.

What is TMD (TMJ disorder)?

TMD — temporomandibular joint disorder — covers conditions affecting the jaw joint and the muscles that move it. It often shows up as jaw pain, clicking, headaches, or trouble opening and closing. We treat it with orthotics, targeted injections, laser, and exercises.

Do you treat children and infants?

Yes. We care for every age — from infants with tongue- or lip-ties, to children who benefit from early orthodontic and airway intervention (often starting around age three), through to adults. Growth and development is a core focus of the practice.

What is a tongue-tie or lip-tie?

A tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) or lip-tie is when the band of tissue under the tongue or lip is too tight, restricting movement. It can affect feeding, speech, breathing, and oral development. We release ties with a gentle laser and pair it with myofunctional therapy.

Do you accept insurance?

To keep diagnoses unbiased and treatment fully individualized, Synera is an out-of-network provider with all insurers. If you have out-of-network medical or dental benefits, we'll gladly help you submit claims for potential reimbursement. Call (332) 242-7332 with any questions.

How do I pay, and do you offer financing?

We accept all major credit cards, and we partner with CareCredit and Cherry for flexible financing so care fits your budget. Our front-office team is happy to walk you through the options — just call (332) 242-7332.

What can I expect at my first visit?

We'll review your medical and dental history, complete a thorough airway, jaw, and oral exam, and take any needed digital imaging (our digital X-rays use minimal radiation). Dr. Montrose then discusses what he finds and builds a personalized plan. Bring a photo ID, any relevant history, and a list of your medications.
